Outreach in Coimbra

On the 20th of May I had the opportunity to address the new students of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. I chose to give a very informal talk, encouraging questions and discussion on the REVAMMAD project, but also on research in general and PhD opportunities in Europe, as I believe these topics are very much of interest to someone entering the University still unaware of what to do after. This was a very different area for me and I must confess a very enjoyable experience in the end. I would like take this opportunity to thank professor Miguel Morgado for making this talk possible.

Jornal de Notícias” is one of the oldest and most important newspapers in Portugal. With over 120 years of existence, it has established itself as one of the most popular source of international, national and local daily news for the Portuguese population. Last month I had the pleasure of being interviewed to publicly promote the REVAMMAD project. The article was released on the 12th of may, both in the printed and on-line versions of the newspaper (although it charges a fee to read the complete article on-line). Since then I’ve been receiving an impressive number of comments congratulating us on our work and goals. I personally take this as a proof of the validity of our work, and hope that it can encourage everyone to work even harder eheh…
